I was flipping though the new Elle the other day when something caught my eye: sequined Converse!

I have always been a big fan of classic Converse laceups, but after looking at the company's Web site, I have become a fanatic. Having six or so pairs of the classic low-rise "Chucks," I find that you can wear them with just about anything. One thing I love about my Chucks is the price - starting at around $25 a pair, these shoe icons are within most people's budget.

Back to the sequined shoes - after a little bit of digging (and by a little bit, I mean relatively none), I found Converse.com. Besides being one of the easiest Web sites to navigate, the selection is phenomenal.

For those with a bit more sophisticated taste, Converse has just the line for you - by John Varvatos, nonetheless. I personally own one of his first designs for Converse, and let me just say they are absolutely fabulous. Sans laces, in navy suede with a limited-edition sole, these shoes scream, "I know fashion." In addition to the laces-free look, some of his new models sport "super elastic laces." Again, you do not have to worry about tying them, but there are about three times as many laces to deal with. Still, they give the shoe a super-sporty look.

Above all else, my favorite part of the Web site is the "design your own" shoes page. Here you can design your own pair of Chuck Taylor Low Canvas Converse at an average price of $60, plus shipping costs. You can personalize every part of your shoes, from the body color to the stitching. You can even add your name (or any other eight-letter word) on either the back or side of the shoes.

I love Converse canvas shoes because you can wear them with a Dior tuxedo to add a little flavor, or with a great pair of Seven Jeans (I suggest an older, beat-up pair) and a vintage style T-shirt from Target. Pick up some Chucks and work it, girl!
