Cross Country runs over TCU for win

The SMU cross country team got off to a fast start this weekend, capturing first place as a team at the inaugural TCU Cross Country Season Opener.

The event constisted of a two-mile run around LaGrave Field in Fort Worth.

The team finished with 42 points, 12 points better than the second place TCU Horned Frogs, with 30 points.

SMU sophomore Kristine Eikrem-Engeset finished first overall with a time of 11:05 and teammate freshman Sara Sjokvist came in second at 11:15.

Freshman Mary Alenbratt, who finished fourth, clocked at 11:42 and sophomore Kathleen Hoogland was the last Mustang to finish in the top-10, placing sixth overall at 11:49.

Next, SMU will participate at the Texas A&M Invitational in College Station this Saturday.
