Fall Break: Activities in Dallas

By Keagan Snively

October is upon us and with it comes SMU’s fall break.

This means students are quickly approaching the much-needed four-day weekend that takes place Oct. 8-11. But for those of you spending your break here in Dallas, there are plenty of events and fun hangouts to take up your time.

Pull for Puppies

On Oct. 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., gather a team of six and head out to McKinney, Texas, to play in a tournament of tug-of-war. Pull for Puppies is a charity that benefits Operation Kindness – the largest no-kill animal shelter in North Texas.

Dallas Cowboys

Go catch a Cowboys game on Oct. 9 as they face the Cincinnati Bengals at the AT&T Stadium. The stadium also offers tours where you can go inside the locker rooms and onto the field. Take the time to do a VIP tour, self-guided tour, educational tour or art tour.

Six Flags Over Texas

If you love fast thrills, take a day to go ride as many rides as you can at Six Flags Over Texas. It may be fall, but remember to drink lots of water and wear sunscreen. Texas hasn’t cooled down yet, as you already know.

Klyde Warren Park

Klyde Warren Park has it all – concerts, film screenings, food trucks, fitness classes and more. Different events occur daily and dog owners can even bring their dogs along for the fun. It is located on top of Woodall Rodgers Freeway in Uptown Dallas.
