Without Shake Milton and Jarrey Foster, the Mustangs fell to Houston, 67-58, on the road Thursday night.

Junior guard Jahmal McMurray led the Mustangs in scoring with 17 points, while senior transfer Akoy Agau added another 13. Freshman guard William Douglas recorded a career-high 11 points, his first time in double-digits all season.

Despite leading for over half the game, SMU couldn’t find the points late in the second half. SMU’s 22-minute lead was diminished in the last five minutes of play when the Mustangs recorded five of their 13 turnovers and the Cougars took the lead.

The Mustangs are currently learning to adjust to a roster of only seven eligible scholarship players. SMU will look for a comeback on Sunday afternoon in Moody Coliseum when SMU hosts No. 6 Cincinnati at 3 p.m.
