By Courtney Kilborn and Morgan Smith

It’s finally that time of year, pumpkin season. That time when many stores and restaurants begin to roll out their fall items and menus in an attempt to incorporate everyone’s favorite fall flavor.

This year, despite the far from fall temperatures, Dallas restaurants are no exception when it comes to embracing the new fall season. So if you’re just as obsessed with this mighty orange gourd as the rest of us, be sure to check out these delicious items around town.

Drip Coffee Company – Pumpkin Spice Latte

While Starbuck’s PSLs have been stealing our hearts for years, this local Dallas spot has created it’s own version of this classic fall beverage. Drip Coffee Company, located on Lovers Lane, will be brewing up the sweet smell of pumpkin lattes all fall, so go ahead and grab your textbooks and earphones and settle in at this cozy spot.

Village Baking Co.’sPumpkin Spice Pastry

Located on the corner of University Blvd. and North Central Expressway, Village Baking Co. bakes their pastries fresh every morning, including this beauty comprised of flaky layers of puff pastry and pumpkin spice filling and seasoning. It’s the perfect way to start off these chilly, crisp fall days, especially if it’s paired with a cup of their signature, house-blend coffee.

Café Brazil – Cinnamon Pumpkin Pancakes

No fall brunch is complete without pumpkin pancakes and Café Brazil couldn’t agree more. These cinnamon pumpkin pancakes are just one item off the 24-hour restaurant chain’s holiday menu.

Penne Pomodoro – Pumpkin Ravioli

In the heart of Snider Plaza, just steps from campus, is an SMU student’s go-to for Italian. If you’re tired of Penne’s classic penne à la vodka however, why not try their fall specialty, pumpkin ravioli. This annual special is one of the restaurants most popular items and is sure to draw crowds to this local spot.

Bisous Bisous Pâtisserie – Pumpkin Macaroons

Halloween and Thanksgiving may be American Holidays, but that doesn’t mean French treats don’t mix perfectly with the holiday flavors. Bisous Bisous Patisserie, located in West Village, offers tons of different macaroon flavors for every season. The shop’s pumpkin spice macaroon will be featured on both their Halloween and Thanksgiving menus. Don’t let the bright orange color scare you because these macaroons will have you questioning why the flavor isn’t a permanent one!

Sprinkles – Pumpkin Cupcake

Sprinkles Cupcakes’ announcement of their flavor of the month is always exciting, and it’s no surprise that their October flavor is a pumpkin cupcake topped with sweet cinnamon cream cheese frosting. Pro tip: follow Sprinkles on Instagram (@sprinklescupcakes) to check out how to score free cupcakes, because trust me it’s easier than you thought.

Einstein Bros Bagels – Pumpkin Walnut Crunch Bagel

If you’re looking to fulfill your pumpkin craving right on campus, head over to Einsteins located in the Cox Business School for a perfect pre-class meal. They are even offering a new pumpkin spread for you pumpkin die-hards.

Steel City Pops – Pumpkin Popsicle

And lastly, even though it is fall, Steel City understands that fall here in Dallas still calls for frozen treats. So looking for a taste of fall while still enduring the 90-degree temps? Not only are all of Steel City’s items homemade, but it’s conveniently close to campus. And pumpkin popsicles? Sounds like something worth trying.

Emporium Pies  Drop Dead Gourd-geous pie

Down in the Bishop Arts District, Emporium Pies provides pie-lovers with a plethora of possibilities, all seasonally themed and selected. The Drop Dead Gourd-geous features a gingerbread crust and spicy pumpkin custard filling, which couldn’t be more fall-like if it tired. In addition, the Lord Of The Pies highlights caramel baked apples with crispy cinnamon streusel and a buttery crust, combining the most classic fall flavors: cinnamon and caramel apples.
