Four Dallas burger joints to enjoy in place of Goff’s

Four+Dallas+burger+joints+to+enjoy+in+place+of+Goffs

It has been months since the beloved burger joint across from SMU campus burnt down. While shops next-door to Goff’s Hamburgers, like Olivella’s, have reopened their doors, Goff’s has yet to be restored.

Students are missing the delicious and budget-friendly burgers so close to campus, but there are so many other great burger joints in the area that are worth trying.

1. Grub Burger Bar on Greenville Ave.

Still close to campus, Grub is the perfect place to cure your burger blues. For less than 10 dollars you can get anything from a simple hamburger to a “Mac n’ Cheeseburger.” They also have awesome fries.

2. Hopdoddy Burger Bar

This one is a little further from campus, but it is truly worth the drive. Hopdoddy is a Dallas favorite with an extensive menu of burger options from the spice “El Diablo” to the pesto covered “Magic Shroom” burger. They’re also known for their insanely good milkshakes. Burger, shake and fries, please!

3. Twisted Root Burger Co. on SMU Boulevard

Another nearby burger joint is Twisted Root. With a cool garage-themed ambiance and a full bar embedded with vintage car artifacts, this place is one of the coolest looking burger joints around. They have burgers with all kinds of toppings from guacamole to goat cheese to jalapeños. Get a side of fried pickles and sit on the patio and you won’t be disappointed.

4. In-N-Out Burger

Not many know this, but In-N-Out isn’t only in California. Texas is one of the few lucky states to be graced with this awesome burger joint. They also have locations close enough for a bite between classes, located just across US-75. With 3 dollar cheeseburgers, this place is perfect for anytime of the day between lunch and late-night. If you’re feeling adventurous, the “animal style” fries also come highly recommended.

After 65 years of service, Goff’s is sorely missed by everybody here at SMU. While it cannot be replaced, that shouldn’t keep Mustangs from trying all of the delicious burgers around campus. Give these a try and let us know what you think, and please let us know if we missed any of your favorite burger joints in the area!
