Meadows Museum lecture series to highlight bearded women in Spanish art

Bearded women and freaks are the topic of discussion for an upcoming lecture series at the Meadows Museum starting this Friday. The lecture series will examine the strange, misshapen and bizarre subjects prevalent in art from the Iberian Peninsula. It will run from Feb. 5 to March 11.

Lecturer Rene Prieto, professor and chair in arts and humanities at the University of Texas at Dallas, will explain the origins of this curious art and its relevance to events that shaped the history of Spain.
