Vampire Weekend’s third album will be released on Tuesday, May 14th.

Formed in 2006, the indie-rock band consists of four members who all met during their time at Columbia University.

They were put on the map after performing at battle of the bands in school and eventually opened up for The Shins on a tour.

“Vampire Weekend,” the same name as their band, was their first album release in 2008, shortly followed by “Contra” in 2010 and their newest album will be entitled, “Modern Vampires of the City.”

The band is notorious for their clever and somewhat upper echelon themes.

The original four members who started the band are still the performing members.

Ezra Koenig sings and plays guitar, Rostam Batmanglij plays keys, guitar and back vocals, Chris Tomson is the band’s percussionist and Chris Baio plays the bass guitar.

Batmanglij and Koenig work together in writing the lyrics for their witty tracks.

Three songs have been released on YouTube for the group’s upcoming album.

Both “Diane Young” and “Step” already have nearly 2 million hits.

Their latest video, “Hey Ya” features the band popping champagne bottles opposite the Empire State Building.

Since the band formed in New York, the theme of the city and the Northeast is ever present throughout each of their albums.

Weirdly enough Chris Tomson is related to “Boardwalk Empire’s” Steve Buscemi.

Buscemi directed the band’s hometown concert and has started a web series with them.

Batmanglij said, “I think we feel like we’ve been working on this record even before we finished the last record. There have been some seeds we have been sewing.”

“We’re very psyched how it turned out,” added Koenig.

The group has made its way around the summer musical festival circuit.

Vampire Weekend just finished playing at the Coachella music festival in Indio, Calif.

Next, they will be heading to the Sasquatch music festival, which will take place on May 24-27 in Washington.

The album is available for pre-order on iTunes today and be sure to download it on May 14th.

You won’t want to miss out on this next set of tunes from this New York gang.
