Garance Dore's SMU visit recap

Garance Dore is truly an inspiration. Her quirky humor and down to earth personality is completely humbling. With success encompassing her every endeavor, Dore has become one of the most inspirational woman in the fashion industry and her blog, Garance Dore, has become an international influence. Born in the south of France, Dore confesses that she never dreamed she would one day end up as a fashion blogger living in New York. As she began her career in illustrating, Dore quickly found herself drawn to fashion and this passion began to influence her drawings. The success of her drawings lead to the creation of her blog in 2006, and its popularity has grown to immense proportions. We were lucky enough to host Dore at SMU this past Wednesday and she was featured in a Daily Campus interview segment as well as an open forum interview lead by SMU graduate Krystal Schlegel. Dore’s story is truly an inspiration. From the people she’s met, to the places she’s been, her life seems like fantasy. Her success stems from her genuine passion and her authentic creativity. By the end of the forum the question on everyone’s mind seemed to be why she holds such a deep love for fashion, and her answer could not be more satisfying. According to Dore, “It is a world where you can dream…it is a place we make magic.”  Illustrator, photographer, editor, model, and media celebrity, Garance Dore is truly one of a kind.
