Dorm Room Survival Grocery Guide

By Anne Parker annep@smu.edu If you are living on campus, chances are you are going to get in a rut on what to eat. The cafeteria is great for a while but sometimes you may just not be in the mood for another meal on campus. While it can be hard to keep fresh fruit and veggies in a dorm room, I have a few ideas of other things that you may find useful. I wish someone had told me about these healthy snacks when I was a freshman. What do I think everyone should have on hand just in case? 1. Granola Bars – anything that is not too terribly processed with a lot of ingredients. Kashi, Luna, Lara, Cliff, Kind, and ThinkThin bars are all great options. 2. Freezer stash. Hopefully you have a mini fridge. Stock up on a few goodies to grab if you get in a bind for a...Internet Motivational Reads

By Anne Parker annep@smu.edu It is already week 2 day 2 of school and most likely you spent the larger portion of last week going out, getting dinner or ice cream with friends to catch up and maybe you had a few too many adult beverages (like me). If you are in the same boat as me, you may be feeling more tired, bloated and sluggish than usual. Time to snap out of it and get back on track! Whenever I need a liitle motivation to put some pep back into my healthy living step, I turn to the internet. I like looking up new workouts and recipes for the week so I can get excited to dive right in first thing Monday morning! I found these articles for you guys to check out! {Also... do not forget that everyone has a few bad weeks. Everyone eats and drinks too much. All you...Healthy Thursday Things

By Anne Parker annep@smu.edu Hi friends! Hope you are all having a great week and everyone is getting settled into the routine of school. Since we talked about healthy snacks to take to class on Tuesday, let's talk about a few other things you can do to keep yourself healthy as a little peach both mentally and physically. 1. Exercise with new friends! What better what to get to know someone that asking them to go for a power walk or bike ride on the Katy Trail?! Maybe you can even stop halfway for a beverage before heading back at the Ice House. 2. Take a little time for yourself. You NEED this. Especially in college. Whether this is getting a mani/pedi, going to hit golf balls, shoot hoops, jog, a massage, whatever you can do to relax and zone out for an hour or...Healthy Snacks for Class

By Anne Parker annep@smu.edu We ALL know how it feels for our stomachs to be rumbling in class. There are so many time times I have woken up late and have not had time for breakfast, hit the gym for a tough workout and then gone straight to class with a rumbling stomach, or had a class during my usual lunch time. I don’t know about you but I can not focus with a hungry belly, so I really have to think ahead. Some of my favorite on-the-go snacks (that do not have to be refridgerated) are: 1. Fitnessista’s Amazeballs. Make a big batch of these on Sunday for the week! 2.Lara Bars, ThinkThin, Luna or Clif Bars. I tend to keep a stash of these to grab in case of an emergency. 3. Almonds with an apple. A perfect filling snack especially after a...
