Flirty, fit and fun Date ideas for active couples

A typical date involves sitting and eating or drinking tons of calories or staying sedentary in a dark theater. While this may be enjoyable for some people, others want a date where they can get up and move.

Especially with Valentines Day coming up, girls are always hoping for something unique and exciting to do when a guy asks them out. No pressure gentlemen, but the stereotypical dinner and a movie may not suffice much longer.

There are plenty of fun and physical activities in Dallas, and healthy restaurants that can cater to any dietary restriction or palate.

Downtown Dallas has plenty of options if you want to get out and moving. Public ArtWalk Dallas is a 3.3-mile self-guided walk through downtown Dallas Arts District. You can take in the art while strolling throughout the city.

Taking a fitness class together could be a great bonding experience while you boost your metabolism. Fitness classes at Klyde Warren Park are free, so you and your special someone can take a Boot camp class together. If you have a dog, you can bring them along and spend some time at the dog park at Klyde Warren too.

If you like nature, hiking, biking or roller-skating around, White Rock Lake is a great way to increase your heart rate while enjoying the scenery. You can even pack a picnic to enjoy by the lake.

Katy Trail is another option if you want to get moving. There are quarters of mile markers along the trail so it’s easy to keep track of mileage traveled. The trail is 3.5 miles long and runs through the main part of Dallas, passing by popular restaurants and attractions in Uptown and Oak Lawn.

If the outdoors isn’t your thing, there are plenty of restaurants in Dallas that cater towards the healthier lifestyle.

Company Café is known for its gluten-free options and is a favorite among SMU students. They have two locations, one in lower Greenville and one on Katy Trail.

Other popular restaurants have extensive menus for those with dietary restrictions, including Fireside Pies, Mi Cocina and P.F. Changs.

The possibilities for healthy or fitness focused dates are endless in Dallas; it just takes a little creativity to come up with a unique idea for the special person in your life.
