A Dallas Police report of classifies the incident involving SMU quarterback Justin Willis and sophomore Jamil Beard as a hate crime.
The Daily Campus obtained two different copies of the report Monday afternoon, three days after Willis was indefinitely suspended from the team for a violation of team rules. (3) comments
Independent gubernatorial candidate Kinky Friedman made a stop at SMU yesterday afternoon to talk about his campaign issues. Friedman strolled into a packed Hughes-Trigg Commons fashionably late with his trademark cigar and cowboy hat and dove into some of the theatrics surrounding his candidacy. (0) comments
Thursday was filled with setbacks for Gary Vodicka and his legal efforts in a federal bankruptcy court. Judge Harlin D. Hale ruled that the University Gardens condo owner improperly used the bankruptcy system and sent the case back to the state district court. (0) comments
EL PASO - Justin Willis was involved in an off-campus altercation early Friday morning that resulted in his indefinite suspension from the SMU Football team. Terence Smith spoke about decisions the media must make that impact the lives of others at the seventh annual Rosin Smith Sammons Lecture in Media Ethics on Thursday evening. "What I'm talking about here tonight is the ethical and professional considerations when faced with very high level appeals to patriotism and national security," said Smith, who spoke in Caruth Auditorium The Rosine Smith Sammons Lecture is put on by the Division of Journalism in the Meadows School of the Arts and was created by SMU alumna Rosine Smith Sammons to discuss media ethics. The gay community of Dallas is celebrating National Coming Out Day today. According to a press release from event organizers, Level Vodka and Out Magazine are teaming up to present the "Level Out" party at Station 4 on Cedar Springs Road. The event will benefit the Human Rights Campaign, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and Lambda Legal, an organization that does legal work for gays, lesbians and people with HIV/AIDS.
