It would be a mistake to think that the Bush Institute coming to SMU as part of the Bush Library will not affect students and faculty in the natural and physical sciences. For the past 20 years or so, it has become fashionable for policy analysts in Washington to take pot shots at scientists over findings they disagree with. (0) comments

What are the values for SMU's future we protestors of the Bush library/policy institute seek to affirm? Protest, from the Latin root protestari, is to affirm, to testify. In other words what are we for as we challenge the Bush complex? What do we seek to preserve or restore for SMU's future? Transparency: When people who are affected by institutional decisions are not offered the right to influence those decisions, the guaranteed result is resentment and resistance. (0) comments

In response to last week's article by Ben Hatch to vote "yes" on the referendum: First, I would like to thank Mr. Hatch for voicing his opinion. He obviously is a student who cares about the well-being of this school; but at the risk of continuing a debate that won't be finished by the election deadline, I must disagree. (1) comment

I am writing today to express my support for the views expressed by Barbara Kincaid in her commentary that ran Tuesday, Feb. 6, concerning the proposed George W. Bush Presidential Library and related Institute.
