The SMU volleyball team dropped both games over the weekend to UAB and Memphis. The two losses drop the volleyball team's record on the season to 15-13 overall and 5-9 in conference play. The Mustangs are now ninth in the Conference USA standings. On Friday night, Memphis started the game by taking the first four points of the match. (0) comments
The SMU men's soccer team lost for the first time in 11 games last Saturday night against the Kentucky Wildcats. The Mustangs dropped to 11-3-2 and 6-1-1 in conference while the Wildcats improved to 5-2-0 in conference and 7-8-2 overall. Saturday night's loss opens up the door for the Tulsa Golden Hurricane to win the conference. (0) comments
The Mustangs had a hard time holding on to the ball in the first half against Houston on Sunday night, and that was enough to cost them the game. Four turnovers led to 17 points for the Cougars, leading to the defeat of the Mustangs 38-28. SMU's first turnover, a Justin Willis interception, didn't come back to haunt the Mustangs as Houston attempted a fourth down and couldn't convert, giving the ball back to SMU. (2) comments
The women's basketball team finished exhibition play this weekend with a 59-57 victory over the All-Stars. The All-Stars posed a challenge to the Mustangs, listing players from Duke, Clemson and New Mexico, but it was not enough to stop SMU. The Mustangs came out strong in the first half outscoring the All-Stars 41-23, with sophomore guard Jillian Samuels and sophomore forward Brittany Gilliam leading the team with seven points each. The women's soccer team ended its season with back-to-back victories this weekend at Westcott Field. The team's first win came in a 1-0 victory over the Golden Hurricane from Tulsa, marking the team's third shutout in a row. The Mustangs found themselves on the board when senior Kimber Bailey shot a ball into the top left corner of the net off a penalty kick in the 13th minute. (0) comments
