The June Jones era got off to a start Saturday afternoon at Ford Stadium. It's just that no one is quite sure how to describe it. SMU football fans had been anxiously anticipating Saturday's Red and Blue Scrimmage for months -years, actually. And who can blame them? There hasn't been this much excitement on the Hilltop since, well, before many can remember. Saturday's scrimmage was a chance for fans to get a first glimpse of next year's squad and head coach June Jones, who will be paid a hero's salary to save the program from indignity. (1) comment
In spite of posting some of its top times of the season, the SMU rowing team was unable to overtake the University of Texas Longhorns. The race was held on Lady Bird Lake in nearly perfect conditions. The closest race of the regatta was the first varsity four. (0) comments
Men now third in C-USA The No. 60 men's tennis team had better luck than the women against the No. 19 Rice Owls, defeating its conference opponent in a 5-0 sweep Saturday afternoon as SMU's Turpin Tennis Stadium. The afternoon stretch of the Mustangs' double-header started with a sweep over the Owls, complemented by a flawless record over Grambling State in the evening. (0) comments
The SMU women's soccer team swept the University of Oklahoma Saturday night in the final game of the Verizon Women's College Soccer Showcase in a 1-0 victory courtesy of Sarah Benchaita. The game was held at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, which is the home venue for Major League Soccer's FC Dallas team. (0) comments
