Everyone is familiar with the First Amendment that protects our rights. Because of this revision to the U.S. Constitution, we enjoy the freedoms of speech, press, religion, assembly and petition. The media's role is largely influenced by the First Amendment. (1) comment

Going Greek with class

"Toga, toga, toga!" The resounding cries of John Belushi's character in the 1970s comedy "Animal House" seems to be a thought that comes to mind whenever one thinks of the ominous college "Greek life." Right now, future SMU'ers are on campus for tours and AARO sessions, so this is mostly directed at you! Whether or not you are thinking of going through formal recruitment in the spring, there are a few things you should really think about and digest before the start of your fall semester. This fall, expect plenty of incoming first years to be more tech-savvy than ever. To welcome in the Class of 2012, I put together a list of essential electronics. The average college student will have an iPod, a flat-screen TV, an iPhone or BlackBerry, and most definitely a Facebook account. (0) comments

Letter to the Editor

We have heard a lot about "going green," "global warming" and the war in Iraq. I love my country and the earth, but I know firsthand that the problem we aren't talking about enough, that can destroy our world, is drug and alcohol addiction. If generations of people are destroyed by drugs and alcohol, we won't need to conserve natural resources. (0) comments
