Hughes-Trigg celebrates 21 years at SMU

The Hughes -Trigg student center celebrated its 21st birthday responsibly Thursday afternoon 21 years after opening its doors in 1987, the student center took the opportunity to educate students about responsible drinking habits. "The first thing that you think of when you hear someone is turning 21 is legal drinking," organizer of the event Marianna Sullivan said. (0) comments

Digging into science with Mole Day

The United States' economic recession has affected millions. With the fall of Wall Street, global investment institutions and banks, many Americans are stuck wondering what will happen next. College and university students are concerned as well. SMU students whose tuition is paid for by student loans are questioning how they will be affected. (1) comment

The SMU campus is buzzing with political activity this semester. However, according to Rock the Vote, only 49 percent of registered voters between the ages of 18-29 voted in the 2004 Presidential Election. That's why the SMU Debate Team, Democracy Matters, Students for a Better Society, the Association of Black Students and the Political Science Symposium are combining forces to raise political awareness on campus. They come from different backgrounds: Uganda, Iran, Argentina, Palestine and the United States. Their stories are different: wars, religious dictatorships, military coups and sex trafficking. But these five women have all experienced violence. They came together on Thursday night to share their experiences and to bring awareness of the global issue of violence against women.
