Drawing from the Masters returns at Meadows Museum

Every other Sunday, students, museum members and guests can gather at SMU’s Meadows Museum for a taste of drawing technique led by local artist Ian O’Brien.

The Meadows Museum is bringing back its Drawing from the Masters program for fall 2015.

Each class begins at 1:30 p.m. and is designed for all experience levels. The classes allow guests to observe pieces of the gallery’s permanent collection, while developing sketching technique.

Najah Hage, who works in the Meadows’ guest services department, explained how the popular program works as a tool for bringing in guests and increasing museum membership.

“Ian, the instructor, is wonderful. I mean he’s very good with the guests and they all seem to enjoy the class,” Hage said.

Each class, which is capped at 20 guests, is open to the public and free for SMU students, faculty and staff, with drawing materials provided.

Meadows’ next class will be held Sept. 27. For a full list of upcoming dates, visit the Meadows website.
