Hot Spots: Bath Junkie makes soap more than a personal issue

p>In a day and age where you can get anything from towels to furniture to cars customized, it is clear that personalization is the new craze.

Bath Junkie, located on 6607 Hillcrest across from Chase Bank is no exception. With over 35 products and thousands of ways to make your own custom fragrance, Bath Junkie is the hottest new spot in Dallas for anything you need for your bath and body.

While Dallas houses several bath and body specialty shops such as Bath and Body Works, Origins, and the Body Shop, Bath Junkie is the first place that lets you mix and match hundreds of different scented oils to create your own fragrance.

“This store is such a different body care place because it welcomes everyone,” Bath Junkie owner Pam Tyler said. “Guys no longer have to pick from a small section of items at a predominantly women’s care store. We have men who come in on a regular basis to get lotion, linen spray, and shaving products.”

Aside from the abundance of products sold at the shop, the store itself is set up like a bar, where people can come in, sit down, and make bath “cocktails”.

Bright colors and modern stylings also add to the store’s friendly ambience.

“It’s a lot about the color and atmospher,” Tyler said. “That’s why so many people come in and stay for a few hours while mixing and matching their own potions.”

And come in they do. Since Bath Junkie is a new company with Texas locations only in Dallas, people travel from Austin, Fort Worth and the surrounding areas to see what all the buzz is about.

Aside from customers who come in to buy gifts or items for themselves, the store has parties in the afternoons and evenings to celebrate birthdays, bridal showers, and get togethers.

“I love just coming in and hanging out,”SMU junior Libby Allchin, a regular customer at Bath Junkie, said, The people are always friendly and the atmosphere is just plain relaxing. I like to think of it as Cheers for the mind and body: A place where everyone knows your name.”

For gifts, parties, or just some time to wind down, Bath Junkie wins the prize for the new Dallas hot spot.

“People who are just shopping in Snyder Plaza come in and wind up staying for a few hours talking to us while they make their products,” Tyler said. “Whatever your needs are, give Bath Junkie a try. Who knows,
