Student robbed at gunpoint near Ford Stadium

A SMU student was robbed at gunpoint last Thursday around 12:15 a.m. while walking alone near Ford Stadium.

The student said he was listening to his music and did not notice anything until a man came up next to him. The suspect carried a large semi-automatic pistol, according to the student. He took the student’s computer, computer case, iPhone and other items.

The suspect fled eastward on foot away from Ford Stadium.

The suspect had an accomplice, police say, who was driving a small silver sedan.

SMU issued a crime alert with a photo of the suspect later on Thursday. The suspect is described as a male African-American in his late teens or early 20s of medium build with a goatee. He wore dark pants and a dark hooded-sweatshirt. The suspect’s accomplice is described as a male African-American wearing dark clothing.

Police ask that anyone with information contact the SMU Police Department at 214-768-3388. Anonymous tips can be made by calling 214-SMU-2TIP or by going to http://www.smu.edu/2tip.
