The SMU women’s tennis team closed out its regular season, knocking off No. 62 Tulsa University 4-3, to improve to 14-11 on the year. The Mustangs will return to action April 25-27 when they travel to Tulsa, Okla., to take part in the 2002 WAC Championships.

SMU women’s golf coach Todd Selders announced that senior Julie Crooks will miss the rest of the season with a lower back sprain. Crooks, the No. 3 player for the Mustangs, injured her back at the Susie Maxwell Classic in Norman, Okla., and withdrew from competition. The women’s golf team sees action next at the WAC Tournament, April 22-24, in Reno, Nev.

SMU women’s basketball coach Rhonda Rompola announced that Kaira White, a 5-foot-7 point/shooting guard, signed with the women’s basketball team and will join the Mustangs this fall. White comes to SMU via the University of Texas at Austin and will sit out the 2002-03 season. She will then have two years of eligibility remaining. White played in 36 games as a Longhorn and led the team in three-point field goals.
