TREAT Hosts Valentine’s Day Red Carpet Affair

Hughes-Trigg ballrooms will be transformed into a glamorous Valentine’s Day scene tonight at The Valentine’s Day Red Carpet Affair hosted by SMU’s Talent Recruitment and Entertainment Agency Team (TREAT). This new group on campus collaborated with the Hughes-Trigg Student Center and Enrollment Services to present a combination of a talent showcase of TREAT talents as well as an enjoyable event for the SMU Community for Valentine’s Day.

Guests will be greeted by a red carpet that leads them into a pre-function area where a food buffet will be set up. Following the entertainment of Trigg Magic, a magician and talent of TREAT, guests will enjoy music and dancing. DJ Wolfe will conduct the music. There will also be a blend of magical entertainment throughout the night. Everything is absolutely free.

TREAT operates with the motto “High-caliber live music entertainment turns events into experiences”.

Among the many goals of this organization, its aspiration is to educate students about the trades of the entertainment industry including the discipline, work ethic and attitude necessary for success in the field.

TREAT serves as a liaison between student performers and campus organizations at SMU. The group encourages the talents of students interested in entertainment, performance and business by connecting them with event opportunities that help develop their skills.

As part of the performers’ training development, regular rehearsals are held. Open events, like The Valentine’s Day Red Carpet Affair, are hosted in order to showcase their talents. TREAT’s services also bring accomplished entertainment figures to campus as speakers and/or trainers.

Christene Dino, the president and founder of TREAT, explains that the organization decided to host this event for different reasons. The first is to provide a nighttime event for the SMU Community complete with quality food and entertainment.

“We wanted to offer a more glamorous alternative to the typical ‘night out,’ and we wanted to do it with flare,” Dino said.

The event is also being held as a way of introducing TREAT as a new organization and to showcase their talents. According to Dino, “We have the resources here on campus to have a good party and we wanted to utilize them to give students an unforgettable event.”

The members of TREAT hope that this event foreshadows similar events in the future. So grab your sweetheart or your friends and join the members of TREAT for an exciting Valentine’s Day Celebration! Doors open at 10:30pm. RSVPs should be sent to [email protected].
