Gerald Ford Stadium had two special guests at this week’s home game against the University of Cincinnati.
Former President George W. Bush and former first Lady Laura Bush met the team captains midfield for the ceremonial pre-game coin toss.
SMU won the coin toss but elected UC to receive the ball at the opening kickoff.
Bush also addressed the UC football team before the kick off. He motivated the team to continue to play hard and study hard, according to a UC spokesman.
The Mustangs were defeated 41-3 and will go into next week’s game 0-6 for the season.
