The Meadows School of the Arts student holiday party celebrated the end of the semester Monday with live music from SMU students, food, and entertainment.

The party started at 4 p.m. in the Bob Hope Lobby of the Owens Art Center with an opening music selection from the SMU percussion ensemble.

Students watched attentively as the band delivered a loud, but welcoming, tune that set the tone for the party.

“The turnout was better than I expected and I really enjoyed the music,” said Ian Lewis, a sophomore theater major.

After the opening song, students got in line to get boneless fried chicken tenders and mashed potatoes. Along with warm apple cider or ice water.

The cookie decorating tables were popular at the party. The students were given a basic, white-frosted, cookie to decorate with Christmas colored frosting and sprinkles.

Students danced to the live music delivered by fellow Meadows students as they enjoyed their chicken and cookies.

The picture booth was also something the students enjoyed. Students usually went in groups of two or three to take pictures with friends. One group of three friends took a picture of them blowing a kiss at the camera.

“This is better than taking selfies,” said Audrianna Washington, a first-year student majoring in theater.
