SMU students gathered on the Fountain Lawn outside of Dedman Life Science to participate in Yoga on the Lawn Monday evening.

This event kicked off the Minority Association of Pre-Health Students’ Annual Health Week.

MAPS provided free yoga instruction along with beverages for all attendees. They invited students to kick off their shoes and lay out their yoga mats as the sun set over Dallas.

“This is going to start off our annual health week,” said MAPS member Courtney Thrower. “This year is to promote de-stressing right before students prepare for finals.”

The organization wants to promote their theme, “Getting Rid of Stress,” by holding events throughout this week. They are handing out free stress balls and premade workout plans Tuesday at noon in Hughes Trigg along with free Zumba classes Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Dedman Recreation Center. Free food in Hughes Trigg along with nutrition flyers will end the week’s events at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
