A brief look at SMU vs UNT

After an embarrassing 45-0 loss to Baylor to open the 2014 season, the SMU Mustangs look to right the ship against North Texas on Saturday.

The Mustangs and Eagles have squared off 33 times and SMU holds an all-time advantage with a 28-4-1 record.

However, the Mean Green has beaten SMU both times they have played in Denton.

The last time the two teams played, the Mustangs defeated UNT 45-31 in Dallas on September 8, 2007.

North Texas, like SMU, is coming off a rough opening week loss.

Last Saturday, Texas handed the Mean Green a 38-7 defeat on the road at Texas.

In 2013, the Mean Green went 9-4 overall (tied for second most in program history) and 6-2 in Conference USA.

UNT also won the Heart of Dallas Bowl over UNLV, 36-14.
