Home cooking coming for Mustangs

SMU has been involved in strange matches of late, losing to No. 11 Baylor 2-0, then winning Friday 3-0 against Davidson in North Carolina, and finally losing to South Carolina 2-0 Sunday.

The recent up-and-down play of the Mustangs has caused a bit of concern as conference play looms closer, but the schedule favors them.

Of the 12 remaining matches before the American Athletic Conference Championship tournament begins, SMU will play at home eight times including the next three.

TCU poses an interesting match up. At 2-3-1, the Horned Frogs have not been playing well of late, losing their last two by a combined score of 4-1.

SMU also owns the all-time mark against TCU with a stellar 26-0-2, including a dramatic 2-1 win in September of last season.

As time was about to expire, junior striker Shelby Redman fired a shot from 30 yards away and found the back of the net.

The victory propelled SMU to a winning season and sent the Horned Frogs down the path of continued defeat.

Head Coach Chris Petrucelli hopes his team can have the same success, albeit less stunningly, this week and moving forward at home.
