SMU Track & Field head to TCU Horned Frog Invitational

The SMU track and field team is headed to Fort Worth tomorrow to compete in the TCU Horned Frog Invitational. The meet marks the beginning of the outdoor season, which the girls are very excited about.

“We are all happy to finally be in our outdoor season,” senior sprinter Amber Evans said.

No one was able to qualify for nationals at the Conference Indoor Championships, but the team is still optimistic for the remainder of the season.

“I’m not sure how we will look as a team yet since this will be our first outdoor meet, but thinking of indoor, we are ready to put SMU on the map in track and field,” Evans said.

At conference, the Distance Medley Relay team, comprised of Mary Alenbratt, Kridtine Eikrem-Engeset, Lakeisha James and Kajsa Barr, set a new conference meet record, while sophomore Helena Perez finished in first place in the shot put with a distance of 15.20 meters.

The Horned Frog Invitational is set to run from Thursday to Friday.
