Members of the SMU Judo club traveled to San Jose, Calif. to compete in the National Collegiate Judo Championship over the weekend. SMU was one of 24 colleges who competed.

SMU sophomore Jay Wu won first place in the 73 kg weight category, and sophomore Richard Chin and senior Stephanie Davis finished in 5th place in their respective weight classes.

Wu, Chin and Davis were all introduced to Judo through SMU’s PRW2 Judo program, and opted to continue their training through the Mustang’s Martial Arts Club, a student organization that offers free classes to SMU students in Judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Aiki Jiu-Jitsu.
