  • Volleyball finishes strong with school record

    On Saturday, SMU Volleyball finished their 2010 regular season with a loss to Tulsa in a 3-1 match. The conclusion to their season would give the team a 25-6 record, the best in SMU Volleyball history. The first two sets were controlled by Tulsa as they would win them 25-14 and 25-19.

  • Volleyball team beats Houston, sets record

    The SMU volleyball team recorded a record-setting 24th win of the season by defeating Conference USA rival Houston Friday, 3-2. The team has won seven straight contests in a season that will mark their third with 20-plus wins.. SMU took the early advantage in a back-and-forth match with a 25-19 win in the first game Houston rebounded to win the second and third games 25-21 and 25-22 respectively.

  • Mustangs crush Knights, 3-1

    The SMU women's volleyball team continued their winning streak this past Sunday by finishing their road trip with 3-1 victory over the University of Central Florida. After winning the first game, SMU dropped the second one in a 29-31 back and forth thriller.

  • Mustang volleyball: fantastic four on court

    Every team needs a leader, or leaders, to be successful. One sport that SMU students may not know much about that demonstrates leadership is the women's volleyball team, say coaches and players. Four young women, all of whom came to SMU as freshmen in 2008, are leading the team to one of its most successful years.

  • Ponies bounce back for big win

    After last Sunday's sweep against the East Carolina Pirates, SMU's Women's Volleyball traveled to El Paso on Friday to take on Conference USA rivals, the UTEP Miners. In the first two periods of the match, the Miners held the court 25-22 and 25-23. The match looked bleak for the Mustangs, although the first two periods had been close in final scores.

    The SMU volleyball team played against conference rival East Carolina University on Sunday.

  • Lady Mustangs battle it out

    The SMU volleyball team improved to 20-5 overall and 12-2 in conference play with a 3-1 set victory over Marshall on Friday night at Moody Colesium.   The Thundering Herd got off to a great start early, taking the first set 25-19 and leading early in the second.

  • SMU sweeps UTEP 3-0

    The SMU women's volleyball team continued their winning streak on Sunday with a decisive victory over the University of Texas at El Paso. The Mustangs made quick work of the Miners and swept them in three straight games. SMU was in control for both of the first two games, winning the first  25-22 and displaying a dominant performance in the second by routing the Miners 25-15.

  • SMU Mustangs slay UCF Knights

    Down 2-1, the SMU volleyball team stormed back to win two straight sets and defeat the UCF Knights on Friday night at Moody Colesium.

  • Mustangs head to Houston to face Owls, Cougars

    The SMU volleyball team will spend this weekend playing away games in-state against Conference USA competitors Rice and Houston. The Mustangs beat Rice last season 3-2; however Rice leads 19-9 in series history. The Owls currently are one game behind the ‘Stangs for second place in the league.

    SMU volleyball falls short in C-USA clash

    It was a close, but unfortunate match for the SMU volleyball team on Wednesday night. SMU fell to Tulsa 3-2 at Moody Coliseum.  Three of five sets were decided by just two points.

      SMU volleyball is coming off of a weekend of wins, as they begin to prepare to take on the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Wednesday.    The team defeated Tulane in New Orleans on Friday, after winning five sets over the Green Wave.   The Mustangs returned home on Sunday to defeat Southern Miss 3-2.

    The SMU volleyball team tallied a total of two wins this weekend against Southern Miss and Tulane.
