Weekend outlook: three competitive sporting days

Thursday:

Men’s diving: Senior diver Devin Burnett will compete in the 2015 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championship at the University of Iowa’s Campus Recreation & Wellness Center. He will dive in the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform events.

Women’s equestrian: The equestrian team begins the United Equestrian Conference Championship against New Mexico State. The competition starts at 11 a.m. at the Student Horse Center in Fresno, California.

Women’s tennis: SMU will play UAB at the SMU Tennis complex at 3 p.m. Attendance to the match is free.

Men’s golf: The Mustangs will compete at Stanford for The Goodwin. The three-day tournament began Thursday and will continue through Saturday. Twenty four teams will compete, including four that are in the GolfWeek/Sagarin Top-25.

Women’s track and field: The team will split for two different tournaments. Sprinters Shahira Ethiemua, Stephanie Kalu, Rachel Scruggs and Craishia Washington will sprint in the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas. Throwers, jumpers, and two long-distance runners will compete at the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, Texas.

Friday:

Men’s diving: Second day of the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championship for Devin Burnett.

Women’s track and field: Second day of the Bobcat Invitational and the Texas Relays.

Men’s golf: Second day of The Goodwin.

Women’s equestrian: Second day of the United Equestrian Conference Championship.

Women’s rowing: The Mustangs will begin the San Diego Crew Classic on Saturday in San Diego. The team will compete in Varsity 8+, 2nd Varsity 8+, 2nd Varsity 4+ and Novice 8+ events.

Women’s soccer: SMU opens its Spring soccer season at home against Mississippi State at 12 p.m. Attendance to the match at Westcott Field will be free.

Women’s tennis: The Mustangs will take on the 75th-ranked Kansas Jayhawks at 12 p.m. at the SMU Tennis Complex. Attendance to the match will be free.

Saturday

Women’s rowing: Second day of the San Diego Crew Classic.
