Everything You Need to Know About Disney+

The cold weather means there is all the more reason to stay inside, and the newly-released Disney+ means that every childhood memory is at your fingertips. Here’s what you need to know about the brand new streaming service:

It’s not just princesses.

Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, and National Geographic all fall under the Disney umbrella. Upon the initial announcement of Disney+, fans noticed a significant number of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies missing from the lineup. However, the day before the launch, Disney announced eight more MCU movies. It is likely that Disney will continue to add content as they work out deals with providers.

Disney is filming and releasing content specifically for Disney+.

The live-action “Lady and the Tramp” movie is only available on Disney+, and Disney has announced TV shows that will further the MCU, including “Loki”, “The Falcon” and “The Winter Soldier”, and “WandaVision,” as well as the Star Wars show “The Mandalorian”. They have also partnered with Pixar for exclusive animated shorts, such as “Monsters at Work” and “Forky Asks a Question.”

It costs $6.99 a month, but you can bundle with ESPN and Hulu for $12.99.

Disney+ has competitive pricing, compared to Netflix’s base price of $9 a month, Amazon Prime’s $12.99, and HBO Now’s $14.99.

You can try it for seven days for free.

If you only want to watch “Beauty and the Beast,” then be our guest. Just make sure to cancel your subscription before the week ends or it will automatically charge your account.

It’s the only way to stream Disney content.

In 2017, Disney announced that it would begin to pull its content from Netflix in anticipation of the new streaming service. Disney movies and shows are still available for rent on services like Amazon Prime, but the binge-watching will have to stay in Disney+.

It may take a little bit to work out the bugs.

Upon its release, Disney+ experienced a few technical difficulties due to 10 million users signing up in the first day. Disney has tweeted that they are working to resolve any glitches that users experience.

Yes, it has “Hannah Montana.”

And “Phineas and Ferb.” And “Lizzie McGuire.” And “High School Musical.” Time to relive our childhoods.
