The George W. Bush Presidential Library is getting into the holiday spirit with its newest exhibit, ‘All Creatures Great & Small.’ The exhibit premiered on Nov. 22 and features decorations from the White House in 2002.

Every year since 1961, the president of the United States has chosen a theme for the White House decorations at Christmastime. The Bush’s have chosen pets that have brought joy to the presidents and their families as their theme.

“It’s a good way for students to take a break from work and get into the holiday spirit,” said SMU junior Liz Meyer. “It’s my favorite exhibit so far.”

The exhibit showcases 25 paper-mache animals made by the White House staff including birds, dogs and horses, some of Laura Bush’s personal Christmas dresses, and pictures of inside the White House during Christmas 2002.

Museumgoers can get their picture taken next to a 18ft Christmas tree that features birds from all over the U.S. as well as watch the Bush’s dog, Barney, run around playfully outside the White House on the “Barney Cam.”
