Plano celebrates 40 years of hot air ballooning at their annual festival at Oak Point Park from Sept. 20 to 22.

The Plano Balloon Festival is the perfect day out for the whole family. “There is no age demographic,” Executive Director Jo Via said. “Everyone is amazed by the kaleidoscope of colors presented by the balloons.”

The festival features RE/MAX of Texas parachute team, fireworks, a local band, musical performances, the Central Market Kids Fun Zone and the flight of 50 hot air balloons. Be sure to check https://www.planoballoonfest.org/events for the complete schedule so that you don’t miss the activities you are keen to see.

Although the festival is ideal for people of all ages, the festival’s organizers do discourage bringing dogs as they often get upset by the high pitched noise the balloon burners make during take-off.

Event staff suggests bringing a folding chair or blanket, as well as comfortable walking shoes and sunscreen. Concessions will be available on sight.

Admission to the festival is $10 per day or $20 for a weekend pass for adults, discounts for children and senior citizens are available, children under 36” are free, but there is an additional $10 cost for onsite parking.

The annual Plano Balloon Festival is sponsored by InTouch Credit Union and gives local non-profit organizations the opportunity to raise funds and awareness for their programs or cause.
