UPDATE: Dedman Indoor Pool reopens following malfunction

Updated Post Jan. 28, 11:30 a.m.

Dedman Indoor Pool reopened Thursday morning after repairs were completed on a valve malfunction, Dedman Management announced via email Thursday morning.

“We will be opening the pool for lunch time swim today, Thursday, Jan 28,” the email said.  “Water temperature will be chilly until the heaters have had a chance to circulate the water.  Be prepared.”

The pool closed early Wednesday morning after a valve that controls the steam and regulates pool temperature was found to be functioning incorrectly.  Facility Services began working on the malfunction yesterday.

The Dedman Center indoor pool unexpectedly closed down on Jan. 27 without information regarding its re-opening, leaving those who want to swim while escaping the cold January air out of luck.

Early in the morning on Wednesday, a valve that controls the steam and regulates the pool temperature was found to be functioning incorrectly. Dedman’s faculty service personnel are attempting to repair the problem, yet according to reports, “some of the repair will be trial/error” because the fixing of the pool involves multiple components.

A report from the Dedman Management cannot confirm a completion day or time as to when the pool will be re-opened, and it states that the pool will be closed until further notice. However, according to the Dedman Facebook page, Facility Services is working “diligently and quickly to repair the valve.”
