Missing Mustangs?

Ed Board notices something is not right with Moody statue

We’re sure everyone has seen the new erections on campus, the Collins Building, the Moody upgrade and possibly unseen, the new mustang statue in front of Moody Coliseum.

Yes, as the semester draws to a close, final preparations are in place for next semester’s new and improved SMU.

Ed Board would like to comment on these new additions to the SMU landscape.

First, the Collins building. Two, yes, two cupolas adorn the top of this new building. We believe that Cox felt it wasn’t receiving the prestige that it deserved, and so had to out-cupola the rest of campus.

Other than that, the building appears to fit in well with the SMU landscape and should draw in many opportunities for the school. However, we’re not certain the large windows on the south side will be of much use once the new parking garage is built.

The Moody upgrade is coming along nicely; we can only hope that it too will receive an official SMU gold cupola.

Finally, the big news. We have a brand new sculpture on campus. Three mustangs now grace the entrance to Moody Coliseum.

The larger than life animals appear in different poses, but all of them look fit to defend our school. We hope Peruna doesn’t get too jealous.

However, these supposed “mustangs” are lacking a very important feature, a gender.

Yes, these fine fighting animals all have the smooth stylings familiar to those of the Barbie generation.

We understand that the administration might not approve of anatomically correct bestial statuary on campus, but it would certainly improve our image and morals among students.

Why stop there? We could make even make the creatures into a fountain. Would that not be the perfect way to convey our message to our rivals? Well, winning games works too, but are we going to be able to win every game?

Perhaps, but even if we do, it’d still be nice to have the statue.

The dedication of the statue is on Wednesday at 11 a.m. We can only hope students attend and decry the unmanliness of our new ornamentation.
