‘The View’s’ Ling featured as keynote speaker

One of the hosts of a top-rated daytime television show will be on the Hilltop to address the SMU community this weekend.

Lisa Ling, part of ABC’s “The View,” will address participants of the Asian-American Leadership Educational Conference at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Hughes-Trigg Theater.

The conference theme for 2002 is “Visions of Success: Dare to dream … Dare to Believe … Dare to achieve …”

Free Guiliani tickets to be made available Monday morning

The Student Senate secured 1,000 student tickets for Monday evening’s Tate Lecture Series featuring former mayor of New York City Rudolph Guiliani.

The lecture, which begins at 8 p.m. in Moody Coliseum, is nearly sold out. The tickets were only made available after student body officers lobbied to have them released.

The tickets will be available at 10 a.m. at the Mane Desk in the Hughes-Trigg Student Center. If there are any tickets remaining at 5 p.m., those tickets can be picked up at the Moody Coliseum Will Call booth at 6:30 p.m. Only one ticket is available per student.

Congressman visits Hilltop for speech

One of the power brokers in Washington, D.C., will be on campus to address students at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

Republican congressman Pete Sessions will speak in the Hughes-Trigg Forum. The speech is sponsored by SMU’s chapter of the College Republicans.
