Snapchat sued in ‘product liability’ case

Snapchat is being sued in a ‘product liability’ case.

Christal McGee, 18, was driving her father’s Mercedes-Benz in Atlanta at 107 mph down a four-lane highway when she struck driver WEntworth Maynards car so hard his vehicle crossed four lanes of traffic and into an embankment.

McGee was “just trying to get the car to 100 miles per hour to post it on Snapchat,” her lawyer said.

According to reports, Maynards suffered severe brain injuries and spent five weeks in the ICU. Since then, he has be unable to work and can not get around without the help of a walker or wheel chair. Maynards was an Uber driver at the time of the accident.

Maynards and his attorneys are claiming the Snapchat speed filter promotes users to use the app while driving.

This is not the first time Snapchat has been in trouble for its speed filter, however. Some believe the speed filter is what caused a fatal car crash of three Philadelphia women in 2015.
