Multicultural Student Affairs is kicking off Hispanic heritage month with Viva America, a night of music, dancing and free food. The event will begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015 in Van Meter Plaza by the Residential Commons. Viva America is open to the entire SMU community and will feature a flag ceremony celebrating different Hispanic countries.

“Don’t be fooled by our very specific organization name,” said Nohemi Mora, president of SMU’s College Hispanic American Students. “We want to promote inclusivity.”

Viva America festivities will continue until 10 p.m.
