Women’s Basketball Begins a New Year

The SMU Women’s basketball team is gearing up for its 2014-2015 season. The Mustangs will start off playing at U Conn on Dec. 27.

Before the official American Athletic Conference begins, though, the team will host non-conference games starting on Nov. 14 against Northern Colorado. Other matchups include Florida A&M; (Nov. 28), Texas A&M; (Dec. 9), and a possible game against The University of Southern California (Nov. 29). All home games will be held in Moody Coliseum. The roster this year includes five freshmen additions including two twins, Alicia and Keely Froling, who played in the Australian national basketball program. Alicia is currently rated as the top recruit in Australia.

Last year the Mustangs ended their season with a loss in the second round of the NIT tournament against Minnesota. They were 8-10 overall in the American Athletic Conference.
