The end of the spring 2016 semester is just finals week away. Are you a Lyle Engineer student who is entering an internship, co-op or full-time job? Join Directors of the Hart Engineering Leadership Program Linda Perez and Kathy Hubbard this evening from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Huitt-Zollars Pavilion to learn how to navigate your new corporate environment at the World of Work event.

“We are teaching the strategy for success,” Perez said. “This includes setting goals, work etiquette, social etiquette and the logistics of what the student needs to do to get into a position and get promoted.”

Perez said the event is designed to help students take advantage of opportunities and make the best of their time in their position. One attendee of this evening’s event is a freshman engineer student who acquired a summer internship with AT&T. According to Perez, this workshop will answer all the questions that that student is currently facing so that she can be as prepared as possible to make the most of this summer.

The World of Work workshop is open to all SMU engineering students who are either entering into a position or seeking employment. Hubbard and Perez both have corporate backgrounds and are enthusiastic in sharing their skills and experience to better prepare Lyle Engineering School students for success in the workplace.

“If any non-engineer students are interested in attending the event, they are more than welcome to join us,” Perez said. “The event is catered to engineering students, but we can always pull up an extra chair.”

If you plan to attend this evening’s event, RSVP is requested on the World of Work event page. Any questions can be directed to the event’s co-director Linda Perez at [email protected].
