It’s Election Day across Texas, and voters are coming out to show their support of their favorite candidates. Thousands of people throughout Dallas-Fort Worth will be voting, although today’s rainy conditions could make that difficult for some.

At Ben Milam Elementary School, at the intersection of Fitzhugh Avenue and McKinney Avenue, east of the SMU campus, a steady flow of voters were at the polling site late this morning.

Jefferson Knox said he voted for Republican candidate Greg Abbott for governor because of his previous success as the attorney general of Texas, and his views for the future.

“I think he did a good job in his prior role, and I believe in his education movement,” he said.

One businesswoman, who asked not to be named, also voted for Abbott.

“He’s the best candidate,” she said.

Knox said he believes that the rain will keep some people away from the polls.

“There are folks who are comfortable in their offices right now, and they look at the weather and decide to not get out and vote,” he said.

Voting continues until 7 p.m. tonight. See our election watch page for more coverage.
