Mustangs ranked for first time in almost 30 years

After the momentous destruction of No. 7 Cincinnati on Saturday, SMU finds itself rank No. 23 in the AP Poll (205) released on Monday.

It is the first time since SMU was ranked No.20 on March 12, 1985 that the Mustangs have been ranked.

SMU (19-5, 8-3 American) has knocked off three ranked opponents this year including Cincinnati, Memphis, and UCONN.

Also of note, Ben Moore received American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week honors for the third time this season. Moore averaged 12.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks during a two-game stretch in which the Mustangs went 2-0.

No.23 SMU will take its new rank on the road for a pair of games against Rutgers (Thursday) and Temple (Sunday) before returning to Moody Coliseum to Host Houston on Feb. 19.
