While you were away

If you were anything like me over this past winter break, you spent most of your days waking up around one p.m. and didn’t spend much time being entirely productive.

And while we were wasting the days away, the SMU women’s basketball team was hard at work representing our school (and us) in some good ol’ fashioned basketball games.

Now, you could take to the internet and look for box scores and recaps of the action- but I did all of that I put together this quick overview so you wouldn’t have to.

You’re welcome.

SMU vs. Indiana State: L 64-55

SMU took a while to get going and never managed to catch up. The Sycamores jumped out to a 26-4 lead early and it took everything SMU had to rally in the second half.

Gabrielle Wilkins lead the Mustangs with 13 points and seven rebounds off the bench.

SMU vs Auburn: L 56-43

Another second half rally that fell short. The Tigers led 35-18 at the half and ultimately that lead proved insurmountable.

Alicia Froling led the way for SMU with 14 points.

SMU at UCONN: L 96-45

SMU opened up conference play against the No. 2 ranked Huskies and were blown out of the water.

After two consecutive games with second half rallies, SMU was gassed and couldn’t hang with UCONN.

SMU was led by Alicia Froling, Keely Froling, and Raven Short with seven points each.

SMU at Temple: L 77-64

Alicia Froling absolutely went off. The Freshman recorded a season-best 20 points but SMU couldn’t pull out the win.

Once again, SMU found itself trailing at the half and was forced to rally in the second. And once again, they fell just short.

SMU vs Houston: L 63-45

This time, SMU found itself leading at halftime, but couldn’t out last the Cougars.

Houston ended the game on a 34-7 run.

Alicia Froling led the way for SMU with 13 points and seven rebounds.

SMU vs UCONN: L 87-28

It was very much the same as the last time these two faced each other. No. 2 UCONN jumped out in front early and never looked back.

Morgan Bolton led thr Mustangs with nine points, while Kiara Perry added eight.

SMU at USF: L 82-59

Despite another strong performance from Alicia Froling, SMU couldn’t find a way to bring home the win.

Froling ended the night with 18 points and seven rebounds.

It has been an unquestionably rough couple of weeks for SMU as the Mustangs losing streak now sits at nine straight games.
