SMU lost to South Florida in the AAC tournament semifinals 1-0 on Friday, ending the team’s run and potentially its season.

In the previous round, sixth-seeded SMU upset third-seeded Cincinnati 1-0, with sophomore Allie Thornton making the game-winning goal. The win set up a showdown with second-seeded USF.

SMU’s magic was unable to continue against the Bulls, as the Mustangs dropped the game 1-0. USF’s Evelyne Viens scored the game’s lone goal in the 34th minute. Goalkeeper Catie Brown recorded five saves for the Mustangs in the loss.

SMU now waits to hear if it will receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. If not, it will ends its season 10-7-3.
