Calling the next generation of fashion designers

Fashion Group International-Dallas hosts an annual fashion scholarship competition and award show, giving fashion design students a major head start in the industry.

Fashion Group International of Dallas will host its annual scholarship competition Friday, April 20.

This year, international fashion model Erin Wasson is the keynote speaker. She will share intimate details regarding her pathway to a successful life, which includes walking some of the most prominent runways in the industry as well as starring on the covers of Vogue and Esquire magazine.

“Capable of taking even the loftiest couture pieces and making them look uncomplicated, she never failed to bring a touch of cool to her work in front of the camera,” Vogue said.

This year, the scholarship competition will provide over $60,000 to area fashion students. The theme is “The Future of Fashion” and students will submit designs in five apparel and accessory categories and two merchandising categories.

Students have the potential to receive scholarship awards of $500-$2,500, tuition and expenses to the esteemed Paris American Academy Excellence Award, and a grand prize scholarship of $10,000.

A Celebrity Judges Choice Award of $2500 will be awarded. Celebrity judges include Heidi Dillon, Willie Johnson, Leah Frazier, Andrea Reich, Marisa Howard and Kim Olusanya. Steve Kembel will serve as emcee and host.

The panel presentation is moderated by Oh So Cynthia blogger Cynthia Smoot and FGI members.

Don’t miss one of the biggest nights of Dallas fashion. The event takes place April 20, 2018 from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. at The Trade Mart’s Grand Pavilion at Dallas Market Center.
