The principle of freedom of speech is perhaps one of the most venerated aspects of American life. Even at private universities like SMU, where the strictures of the First Amendment do not apply, free speech is nevertheless a vital principle to be protected.
On Monday, fliers appeared on campus posted by the student group OUTlaw, advertising a public demonstration against conservative commentator and Fox News contributor Steven Crowder’s appearance at SMU this Thursday evening.
