Despite injuries and players being “in and out,” according to head coach Tim McClements, the SMU men’s soccer team is ready to take on UCF this Saturday at 7 p.m. This is the first home match for the Mustangs since their win against Memphis.

This game will help determine whether or not the Mustangs participate in post-season play this year.

“Every point, every game, every goal makes a difference from this point on,” McClements said.

The Mustangs must be in the top four in order to continue. With T.J. Nelson still out and Pana Vasquez injured, the team has had to adapt to different lineups this season. The younger players have been forced to step up and take leadership, like Conference USA player of the week Ryan Rosenbaum.

The Knights currently have a C-USA record of 2-3-0, and the Mustangs have a C-USA record of 2-2-1. Up until now, the Mustangs are 3-0-1 against UCF. Both games played on Westcott Field have resulted in a win for the Mustangs, who are hopeful to continue the trend and continue with the momentum after beating the No. 16 Tulsa last week.
