The latest Boulevard fashion trend is…a plastic bag?

Large handbags are out and clear plastic bags are in at SMU’s football games.

The new staple accessory is coming to the Boulevard beginning this Friday, Sept. 4. It’s not a new fashion trend fresh off the runway, but rather part of SMU’s new Ford Stadium security protocol.

This means accessorizing may be a little more difficult for women who love to spice up their game day attire with purses. But for those who are hesitant to get onboard the plastic bag trend, SMU will allow small clutch bags about the size of a hand.

Students may want to reconsider packing their fake IDs or condoms for game days, or shamelessly sport them as part of the new trend.

While the new policy leaves many purses exiled from game day, it gives SMU fans a good excuse to buy a new clutch for football season.
