Mustangs fall to Jayhawks 3-0

The SMU women’s soccer team was dealt another loss this season after being shut out 3-0 by the Kansas Jayhawks on Sunday at Jayhawk Soccer Complex in Lawrence, Kan.

Diasaster struck in the 58th minute when starting goal keeper Shannon Moroney left the match with an injury.

Lauryn Bodden, SMUs only other keeper was also injured so, junior midfielder Lissi Lonsberry stepped in for the Mustangs.

“Being without your goalkeeper obviously affects the game,” said Petrucelli. “But the team certainly fought hard.”

In her first career appearance in net, Lonsberry recorded two saves.

The Mustangs will play two games next weekend: On Friday, Aug. 29, SMU takes on Texas Southern at 7 p.m. CT at Westcott Field, then Missouri on Sunday, Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. CT.
